PROTEX keeps water out, yet at the same time releases perspiration vapour. It is both waterproof and breathable. Since perspiration escapes through small pores in the PROTEX membrane, you will stay dry, which in cold weather keeps you warmer.

Garments made with PROTEX waterproof, breathable fabrics are composed of three seperate materials: The outer shell, an inner lining/laminate and the inner lining.

PROTEX exceeds all industry standards for waterproofness, breathability and the NFPA standard on protective clothing against the spread of bloodbourne pathogens.

A large number of major departments have chosen Outdoor Outfits PROTEX jackets to test at independent third party laboratories. When the results were in, PROTEX jackets by Outdoor Outfits were selected due to the provision of utmost quality and value.

At Outdoor Outfits, we only use reflective tape and high-visibility fabrics that are ANSI and CSA compliant. Our suppliers of reflective materials are of the highest quality available from leading companies such as 3M.

The American National Standard (ANSI) and the Canadian Standards Association Standard (CSA) specify minimum amounts of background fabrics and retroreflective materials for high-visibility garments. Background fabrics must be fluorescent yellow-green, fluorescent orange-red or fluorescent red (the additional colors bright yellow-green, bright orange-red or bright red are acceptable for the CSA standard).

Both standards establish three classes of high-visibility safety clothing. Class 1, 2, and 3 are increasing level of visibility, depending on the working environment for such things as traffic volume and visual complexity of the areas in which the garments will be worn. All classes must provide the wearer 360º visibility.

We only use superior insulations including PrimaLoft, Thinsulate, and Thermolite to deliver the ultimate warmth and comfort without bulk, even when wet. With a high warmth-to-weight ratio, exceptional water-resistance and breathability, you will stay warm, dry, and comfortable in the harshest weather.

We also offer high-loft insulating materials when thickness is required.
